Sisters Unchained hosts workshops to break the isolation between formerly incarcerated women and girls directly affected by parental incarceration. We aim to cultivate more intentional spaces for intergenerational healing between women affected by the prison system. We engage in sister circles, guided meditation and writing exercises, healing practices, and art therapy. This weekly drop in workshop space is created to: support women along their individual journeys to healing their inner child wounds; build community; support healthy personal development and engage in healing justice.
The understanding of the root of our trauma to transform ourselves and heal generations to come. We cannot practice abolition without healing and vice versa. Radical abolitionist healing is unapologetically love ourselves. Being compassionate towards ourselves and community while also keeping it real, knowing when we need to step up and challenge ourselves + each other in the name of growth. It is watering and giving life to our dreams. Embracing our roots. Exploring alternatives outside of what we've been conditioned to accept. Cultivating the gifts, skills, and wisdom our ancestors passed on to us so that we can better take care of ourselves and better protect our people.
